Train to Become a Phlebotomist
The phlebotomist program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in our medical labs to help you develop the highly technical skill of intravenous blood withdrawal. Coursework may include:
- Keyboarding and data information processing
- Medical terminology
- Introduction to human diseases
- Presentation skills
Real-World Externship Experience
Prior to completing this program, you will be required to complete an externship to gain on-the-job experience as a phlebotomist. You must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to starting your externship. Contact an Admissions Representative for additional information.
Certification Preparation
The curriculum is also intended to prepare you for the Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomist (CLPlb) exam sponsored by the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA).†
Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a Phlebotomist Certificate. This program is designed to prepare you to seek entry-level employment as a phlebotomist in a clinic, drug treatment center, surgical center, lab, hospital, or other health care facility.
