The Associate of Applied Science in Computer Applications program is designed to provide you with the formal training you need to acquire these vital career skills. Computer Applications ProgramIn this program you can expect to learn the working fundamentals of commonly used business software. Through classroom instruction and hands-on training in our computer labs, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in word processing, database management, and spreadsheet analysis. Coursework covers topics such as: Accounting Business and business law Economics Information technology Networking applications Presentation skills Real-World Externship ExperiencePrior to graduation you will be required to complete an externship to gain on-the-job experience in a real-world work environment. Certification PreparationThis program is also designed to prepare you for the Certified Professional Secretary exam and/or the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) exam sponsored by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).* Career OpportunitiesUpon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Applications and can pursue a broad range of entry-level positions in business and government, such as call center associate, help desk support specialist, administrative assistant, customer service representative, finance clerk, or general office supervisor. * However, the College cannot guarantee a student's eligibility either to take this exam or become certified. A student's eligibility may depend on his or her work experience, completion of high school (or its equivalent), not having a criminal record, meeting other licensure or certification requirements, or the program or College itself having appropriate accreditation or licensure. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.
