Pharmacy Technician Activities
A pharmacy technician has many duties and assists in all areas of the pharmacy. At Kaplan College, you can learn to perform daily activities such as:
- Transcribing physicians' orders
- Pricing prescriptions
- Preparing unit dose medications, IV admixtures, and sterile irrigations
- Selecting medications for dispensing, labeling, and refill authorization
- Handling and processing insurance claim forms
- Maintaining patient profiles
- Assisting with quality management and security measures
Career Placement
As a pharmacy technician, you will work directly under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Upon graduation, you will have completed an externship and may find job opportunities at local retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, residential pharmacies, or other pharmaceutical facilities. This program can also help prepare you for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) exam.†
