Program Objectives
The Medical Assistant Diploma program can provide the medical training necessary for you to obtain an entry-level position in the health care field as a medical assistant. You will also receive training in computer technology and word processing which can give you additional skills for employment. Prior to graduation, you will need to complete an externship at a physician's office, local clinic, hospital, health maintenance organization (HMO), or other allied health facility where you can gain valuable work experience.
Graduates of the program may be eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) examination sponsored by the American Association of Medical Assistants.† It is not necessary for you to take this exam to become employed, but medical assistant certification can give you a competitive edge in the job market.
